TOTAL E&P UK Limited confirms that an incident occurred at 12.15 hrs on Elgin PUQ which is located in the Central Graben Area, 240km of Aberdeen.
A well control problem occurred on the wellhead platform at the Elgin field, resulting in a gas release. Work is ongoing to control the release.
Following the incident, all personnel were called to muster and have been accounted. No injuries have been reported. Arrangements are now being made to evacuate the installation of non essential personnel.
Emergency procedures have been activated and Coastguards and Grampian police are informed.
